MEET NANCY

Nancy and her husband Phil have lived in the GCISD area for 25 years. They lived in Grapevine for 11 years before moving to Colleyville in 2001.  They both grew up in California and moved several times with Phil's career at IBM before finally settling in Texas in 1990. Nancy has stayed busy by getting involved in every community she has lived in while raising their five children.

In her spare time, Nancy freelances in landscape design which includes projects such as the outdoor classroom at Heritage Middle School in 1993 and the Panther Plaza at CHHS in 1999.

During her tenure as a GCISD Board Trustee, the tax rate went from 1.617 to 1.29. The fund balance was taken from a shaky low level to a substantial amount that allowed the board to release tax refunding bonds, saving the taxpayers 14. 5 million during her tenure. She and the board also implemented zero based budgeting that tightened inefficiencies in the budget.

Nancy has been involved in the political process for decades. She went back to school in 2007 and earned her M.A. in Political Science in 2012. She relishes in research, solving problems and the processes for a check and balance governmental system. Her convictions for the republic form of government is unwavering. She graduated among the top in her class making many lifelong friends.

Recognizing that charity and giving back to the community are integral parts of a city's success, Nancy has spear headed the implementation of the JustServe.org program in the area. JustServe is a nation wide web based clearing house to join those that have a desire to serve with organizations that need service.  Nancy has signed up many organizations including Grace and 6Stones and hundreds of volunteers to the site to increase the effectiveness in mstvhing volunteers to appropriate service opportunities.
